Why Should I Bother with Blogging?

Updated: Sep 28, 2020

If you’re someone who loves to write and has a passion for an interesting topic or a skillset that might interest others, there should be no question about whether you should start a blog or not! However, what we want to answer is why bother blogging for your business.👍

Above all, blogging is a great method of marketing and promotion and it is easy to do! There is no defined structure or rules to what your blog should be about. All that matters is that you are producing authentic and honest content that will interest your readers.📰

The Guardian similarly says:

‘Done right, it can drive traffic to your website, increase your sales, establish you as an authority in your industry and also help you to reach new markets.’

There really is no reason not to give it a go…

Why you should start a blog:

🗣 Communication:

According to Ellen Fondiler, a successful blogger and business strategist, the more you write the better you get at communicating, and this is helpful for any type of business!

💻 Promote your business:

This one might seem obvious, but maybe not to the extent that you expected. By using SEO boosting methods on your blog such as backlinking you are working towards getting your business featured on the most Google searches.🔍

🙌 Help others:

Whether your business directly helps others, or if your expertise can help inform other people, your blog is reaching out to your audience and having a positive impact.✔️

For more on how you can help yourself and others, take a look at Start Blogging Online’s post.

💰 Increase your income:

So many people online make a living from blogging, and yet that might seem a little confusing as we mentioned how easy it is, but it is possible❗

If you want to support yourself by blogging there is a bit more to a weekly post written in 15 minutes, but it also isn’t rocket science. However, a lot of the influencers you see online aren’t telling the truth about their income, so take a look at Medium’s honest post on how to make money blogging.💸

👍 Improve customer satisfaction:

As we suggest, blogging can help find new customers. But it also adds another level of engagement with your consumers that not only allows for feedback and personal reviews, but it also means your customers can help suggest ways to improve.👏

As we all know, the customer is always right.👑

In a lot of ways, blogging is an additional form of social media, as both blogging and social media work hand in hand to create a successful brand - read our post for more!

💭 Expand your knowledge:

By blogging you are looking at your business in a new way. Marketing Insider Group argue:

‘One of the main reasons why blogging is a good idea is that it forces you to stop and think about your business and your industry.’

For example, we are PR professionals at GuidedPR, but by blogging, we are able to explore other topics such as marketing and advertising, which all comes back to improving and expanding our knowledge.📝

Speaking of marketing and advertising, why not look at our blog on how they differ to PR❓

If you’re still not convinced that you should start a blog, take a look at this article from Forbes that provides tips from some of the most successful bloggers. One piece of advice includes:

‘Just start. Stop over-thinking and carefully planning your entire approach to launching. Just get started today.’
