7 Ways to Promote your Blog Post

Updated: Sep 24, 2020

Blogging; it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but maybe it should be 👀. Content marketing is one of the most effective ways for a business to reach out to its audience and connect on a personal level. Nowadays, our audience values expertise and knowledge over promotional advertising. By creating compelling blog posts, you can connect your business to your audience in ways that you never could do through mass marketing.

As you can probably tell, our team at GuidedPR certainly believes in the power of blogging...and if you’re reading this post then I’m guessing you do to! On that note, why not have a read of my colleagues article discussing the power of a blog.

Anyhow, that’s enough chit-chat, let’s dive right into how you can promote your blog posts. ⬇

1. Make sure it’s searchable

You need to make sure that you write your posts in favour of SEO. Before you start, do some keyword research to identify the high-ranking terms and incorporate these into your post. Have a read of these keyword research tools which can be used to find the right words for SEO. You can also use headlines to your benefit. Headers tell Google what your blog is about. This post entitled ‘7 ways to promote your blog post’ will therefore attract users who search for ‘how to promote a blog post’…etc.

Why not make a list of things which will guarantee your worthiness of a search:

🔸 Write to answer your customer.

🔸 Add images: according to HubSpot, consumers remember 65% of visual content, versus only 10% of written content (stab to the heart that really!💔). Have a read of their visual content marketing statistics.

🔸 Link to influential websites such as Forbes.

🔸 Ensure your content is Evergreen. As noted in our blog, evergreen content is ‘content that doesn’t go out of date. It revolves around a topic that’s always relevant to readers, regardless of the current news cycle or season'. This means that your content must consistently be of interest to readers.

2. Recycle your content

Now, by this I do not mean repeat your posts and content over and over, yet re-imagine your top posts into other forms of content. For example, you could re-invent the written content of a blog post into a podcast, presentation, or video on Youtube. Why not leverage your blog posts with CTAs as well in order to encourage your readers to become leads. Pop an option on the bottom for your audience to sign up to an online course, or tutoring session; this will increase your blog traffic and ameliorate your engagement. As stated on Forbes, ‘the worst possible thing would be to have content that puts people to sleep’, so be creative. Have a read of their evergreen, repurposing tips.

3. Share on social media

This may seem obvious, but sometimes it’s not as simple as just posting a link and hoping for the best. There is so much to learn about the world of social media, so why not read our tips here.

The essential factors to remember are:

🔸 Get your post trending: why not connect with fellow entrepreneurs and arrange an hour to help each other out. I’ll let you in for a secret, it's not so hard to play the algorithm game on LinkedIn...

If you receive over 10 comments on LinkedIn, with 4 or more words, and an ‘@ mention’ in each comment and reply, within the space of an hour of your post, then you might get your post trending. 🏅

🔸 Stay consistent with your content.

🔸 Chose a defined path and stick with it, know your brand, and make sure your brand image and personality is portrayed within your posts.

🔸 Know your audience.

🔸 Track, analyse and optimise.

4. Use Quora

Quora is one of the best platforms for engaging with people who will take interest in your topic. If you answer questions on Quora which relate to your niche topic, then you will appear as useful, resourceful, and genuinely interested in your audience. ✨✨

5. Reach out to Influencers

Sometimes gaining traction for your blog, and or business as a whole, requires compromise. We have to cope with failure and rejection in order to learn and flourish with our ventures. Influencers are prone to rejecting blogs, so stick with it. If you develop a relationship with an influencer prior to you introducing your blog, then you stand a better chance of gaining engagement. Promote their content on your social media, and in return they will (hopefully) promote yours.

🌟Top Tip: Remember we are all human behind the screens! If you want your blog to flourish then connect with your audience and peers on a personal level. 🌟

6. Guest post on popular blogs

This is an old trick of the trade, yet still as important as ever. Guest blogging reaches a targeted audience, and improves your SEO. You can link your website and social media handles in your author bio. Have a read of these guest blogging tips for some useful advice.

Guest blogging also builds up your writing experience, enhancing your portfolio and giving you a credible name as a writer.

7. Use Heat maps

If you’re thinking, what on earth is a heat map? Is it something you put your coffee on? ☕️Then you’re not far wrong…well a little far off 😉. Heat maps are a data visualisation tool, which allow you to track user engagement. They can arm you with the insights you need to optimise your blog posts, website copy, and conversation rate optimisation. Have read of these brilliant tips to gain the inside information of the world of heat maps.
